Something really serious is happening at Jantar Mantar right now and honestly,it feels like one of those moments where you cannot just scroll past and ignore.
Student protests there have now completed 32 days of continuous demonstrations against what protesters are calling central government negligence toward education system . And on July 20,2026,things escalated dramatically when thousands of students converged near Parliament,turning entire area into makeshift encampment.
That image alone,young students sleeping outside Parliament demanding to be heard,is not small thing to process .
What are they actually asking for? Pretty direct demands honestly:
- Students are calling for accountability and direct discussions with government officials regarding their grievances.
- Protest leaders are demanding resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan,citing his failure to address issues they say caused deaths of over 20 students.
- Supporters and protest leaders have condemned police violence against demonstrators,with particular outrage over targeting of female protesters.
And now even Bollywood has started speaking up . Actor Riteish Deshmukh and his wife Genelia Deshmukh posted statement of solidarity saying,"We stand in solidarity with the youth of our country. Their voices deserve to be heard — loud,clear,and without fear. They are the heartbeat of our democracy and the true architects of our nation's future. Let us listen,support,and empower them." Celebrity support does not solve anything directly,but at same time it does push issue into wider public conversation .
What is hitting harder though is statement from protest leader Abhijit Deepake . He issued public apology on Instagram,specifically directed at young women who faced what he described as brutal treatment from law enforcement . His exact words were,"I apologize to all my supporters,especially girls who have been brutally beaten by police. The government is ready to spill more young blood to protect Dharmendra Pradhan,who is responsible for the deaths of over 20 students. We will continue to fight for you all."
That is not just political statement . That is someone genuinely expressing grief and anger at same time.
Government's response so far has been tightening security around Pradhan's residence and increasing measures around Parliament area . No meaningful dialogue announced,no resignation,no real acknowledgment of demands from what is visible publicly .
Honestly,32 days is long time for students to be sitting outside in open,demanding basic accountability from people who are supposed to represent them . This is not some spontaneous one-day protest anymore . This has become something much more sustained and determined.
And the part about female protesters being specifically targeted by police… that detail should be making far more people uncomfortable than it apparently is right now.
Student leaders say they will continue pushing for direct dialogue with ministers until demands are addressed . Government seems to be responding with security arrangements rather than conversation . Both sides are clearly digging in deeper .
Where exactly this goes from here,whether government eventually opens dialogue or protests keep escalating further… honestly that question does not have clean answer yet and that itself is most unsettling part of whole situation.
