Mumbai, Maharashtra - The highly anticipated Mumbai Metro Line 3 has officially opened to the public today, marking a transformative moment in the city's public transportation history. Within the first 24 hours, the metro line recorded over 150,000 passengers, exceeding initial projections by 40%.
Infrastructure Milestone
The 33.5-kilometer underground corridor connects Colaba in South Mumbai to SEEPZ in the north, featuring 27 stations with state-of-the-art facilities. The project, completed at a cost of ₹23,000 crores, represents one of India's most ambitious urban infrastructure initiatives.
"This is a historic day for Mumbai," said Chief Minister at the inauguration ceremony. "The Metro Line 3 will reduce travel time by up to 50% and significantly ease traffic congestion across the city."
