So Konkan Railway has announced a pretty significant change coming up at Madgaon Railway Station,and if you are planning to travel on July 24,this is something you genuinely need to know about before heading to the station.
According to Sunil B . Narkar,the Chief Public Relations Officer of Konkan Railway,there is planned block scheduled from 12:20 PM to 5:20 PM on that day. That is a good five hours where normal operations will be disrupted .
And reason behind it is actually understandable. The existing foot overbridge at the station is being dismantled as part of ongoing infrastructure improvements . So this is not random chaos,it is planned work.
During that block period,all scheduled train services will be redirected to Platforms 4,5 and 6. So if you are someone who just walks in and heads to usual platform without checking,you could genuinely end up confused or worse,miss your train entirely.
Three things worth keeping in mind clearly:
- All train services will shift to Platforms 4,5 and 6 during the 12:20 PM to 5:20 PM block on July 24.
- disruption is happening because the old foot overbridge is being dismantled as part of station upgrades .
- Passengers are strongly encouraged to arrive well in advance of their departure times to avoid any inconvenience.
Honestly,the advice to arrive early sounds obvious but in a situation like this it actually matters a lot. Platform changes at busy stations can cause real confusion,especially for elderly passengers or anyone travelling with heavy luggage who may not see the announcements in time.
The foot overbridge has apparently been a longstanding feature of the station,so its removal is a noticeable change for regular commuters. New infrastructure will eventually replace it,but right now the transition period is what passengers have to deal with.
What is still not entirely clear is how well the communication around this will actually reach everyday passengers in time…
