Srishananda at C. Bhimasena Rao College of Law in Shivamogga feels like one of those graduation moments which students may remember for long time . Not because it was fancy ceremony, but because message was quite direct.
During graduation ceremony on June 20,2026,the Karnataka High Court judge spoke to graduating law students at Nyaya Deeksha (oath of justice) . And he placed Constitution of India right at centre of everything.
He described Constitution as sacred text that binds people across different religions, cultures and communities in country . And honestly, that line hits differently in India because everyone has own faith, own customs, own identity… but law has to hold all together.
Justice Srishananda told students that they must put Constitution above all other sacred texts . He said,“You must uphold it and, through laws it has shaped, discharge your responsibilities with integrity.”
Few points from his address stood out clearly:
- Constitution as unifying force — Justice Srishananda highlighted its role in bridging divides .
- Emphasis on social harmony — judge called for building inclusive communities.
- Legal profession as noble calling — he urged lawyers to fight for marginalized.
And this is where speech became more than normal college advice . He spoke about building bridges instead of walls between communities . In simple words, religion should not become narrow identity fight, but something that encourages inclusiveness and harmony .
He also reminded students that becoming lawyer is not just about cases, fees and courtroom arguments . Legal profession, according to him,is noble calling where lawyers have responsibility to question injustice and stand with underprivileged people .
Tbh,that is not small thing ah . Young lawyers entering system hear many practical realities very fast, but message like this pushes them to remember why law matters beyond career only .
The event was also attended by G.S. Narayanarao ,president of the National Education Society, and other officials . So clearly, this was important day for students stepping into legal world.
But bigger question stays hanging there . After hearing such strong words about Constitution, justice and harmony, how many young lawyers will actually carry that spirit when real pressure of profession begins…
