Security agencies in Jammu and Kashmir have intensified their hunt for five suspected Pakistani terrorists believed to have infiltrated through the border. Posters featuring photographs of the suspects were put up in Kathua and Samba districts on February 16. The move follows credible intelligence inputs shared by Punjab security forces regarding the movement of armed groups in the region.
The J&K Police, along with the Army, BSF, and CRPF, have launched a massive coordination effort to track the suspects. The public information posters display five bearded individuals and provide a dedicated helpline number for citizens to share information. Authorities have assured that the identity of any informer will be kept strictly confidential to encourage community participation.
- Heightened Border Vigilance — Restrictions imposed on movement within a 5-km belt along the International Border
- Multi-Agency Operation — Joint searches conducted by Army, BSF, and Police in vulnerable pockets
- Confidential Reporting — Dedicated helpline established for tracking suspected terror movements
Kathua District Magistrate Rajesh Sharma has issued a formal order under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS). This order restricts unnecessary movement near the International Border to prevent anti-national activities and safeguard local villagers from potential cross-border firing or skirmishes. The DGP Nalin Prabhat recently visited Samba to review the operational readiness of the forces.
The search operations have been extended to Kishtwar, Udhampur, and the Chenab Valley belt. In a similar move, police in Doda recently released posters of Saifullah Balochi, a Pakistan-based terrorist active in the region. Security forces have established additional checkpoints and increased area domination patrols along the highways to neutralize any threats from foreign terror networks.
