This week's OTT releases on July 17,2026 are honestly looking like one of better Fridays we've had in while . Netflix,JioHotstar both dropping multiple titles at same time and the variety is actually impressive.
Leading charge on Netflix are two very different shows — 'The East Palace',a Korean dark fantasy drama,and 'Desire',a Mexican erotic thriller . JioHotstar is bringing 'Maa Inti Bangaaram' featuring Samantha Ruth Prabhu in what sounds like seriously intense role.
Let's start with 'The East Palace' because honestly that one is catching most attention right now.
It is set in dark fantasy universe where king played by Cho Seung Woo brings in Gu Cheon,a confident swordsman portrayed by Nam Joo Hyuk,who apparently has uncanny ability to slay ghosts . Alongside them is Roh Yoon Seo's character,a court lady cursed to hear voices of deceased . Together they are trying to uncover truth behind deadly curse affecting crown prince's palace . Supernatural K-drama with that kind of cast… not small thing at all .
Then there is 'Desire' which is going in completely opposite direction.
It follows Lucero,a successful lawyer played by Ludwika Paleta,whose life spirals when she gets involved with Matías,the charming swimming coach of her own daughter . Matías is played by Óscar Casas . As affair intensifies it creates complex love triangle that tests family bonds and brings out darker side of desire . Mexican thrillers have been doing really well on Netflix lately,so expectations are already high for this one.
