So Delhi University is finally dropping first allotment list for 2026 undergraduate admissions today,July 16 . And honestly,the number of students waiting for this result is not small thing at all.
According to official information,seat allocation link will go live at 5 PM today on du.ac.in . Nearly 218,000 candidates completed their registration out of approximately 270,000 who initially signed up . That drop-off number itself tells you how many people gave up somewhere in middle of process .
One interesting detail from demographic data this year — female applicants actually outnumbered male candidates by noticeable margin. 120,509 women registered compared to 97,775 men . So women are clearly showing stronger participation in DU admissions cycle this time .
And all these students are competing for total of 71,600 undergraduate seats spread across 67 affiliated colleges . Seats are not unlimited and competition is genuinely serious.
Few key dates every candidate needs to keep in mind right now:
- Students must confirm their allotted seats between July 16 and July 18 .
- Colleges will process and approve online applications from July 16 to July 20 .
- Final date for submitting admission fees is July 21 .
Missing any of these deadlines means losing the seat completely . No second chance there.
In terms of most popular programs,Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) (Hons.) ,B.Com (Pass) and BA (Hons.) English are still at top of preference lists . Political Science,History and Economics are also heavily requested courses . Honestly,same courses dominating every year — not much surprise there .
Admission to these programs is based strictly on CUET (UG) - 2026 results,though School of Open Learning (SOL) and Non-Collegiate Women's Education Board (NCWEB) work under different exceptions.
Once list goes live,students basically have two choices — either accept current allocation and move into document verification stage,or select upgrade option which keeps them in running for better-preference college in later rounds . That upgrade decision is something each student will have to think through carefully depending on their original college preferences .
Process to check results is straightforward enough . Students go to DU homepage,click allotment link,and download offer letter for future reference .
And honestly,for lakhs of families today is one of those genuinely anxious afternoons . Months of preparation,form filling,CUET pressure… all of it now coming down to one list going live at 5 PM .
