Dhamaal 4 has been out for six days now and honestly,the numbers it is pulling are genuinely surprising for a franchise that many people thought had already peaked long time back .
The film hit theaters on July 10 and within just six days crossed ₹89.75 crore at box office . That is not small number for what is essentially fourth film in one comedy franchise built mostly on slapstick and loud humor.
Opening day reportedly brought in around ₹14 crore from 10,669 shows . Weekend was even stronger,with film touching ₹65 crore by end of first three days . Ajay Devgn,Riteish Deshmukh,Arshad Warsi and Jaaved Jaaferi all together on screen clearly still has pulling power for audiences.
But then weekday reality hit,as it always does.
Day six collections came in at around ₹6.50 crore which is actually 31.6% drop compared to previous day's ₹9.50 crore . That kind of decline is pretty standard honestly,but it does raise question about how much longer this momentum can hold without strong word of mouth pushing people back into theaters.
Few key things standing out right now from this whole situation:
- Mixed critic reviews are reportedly affecting viewer turnout,with outlets like Hindustan Times criticizing recycled formulas.
- International numbers still holding decent,adding ₹1.25 crore gross on Day 6 alone .
- Post-credit scene in film has apparently confirmed Dhamaal 5 is already in development .
And this comparison to Total Dhamaal is actually interesting. That film earned ₹25.5 crore on its first Sunday,and Dhamaal 4 has clearly surpassed that benchmark already . Film also crossed earnings of Ajay Devgn's own De De Pyaar De 2 which had much more modest start.
Directed by Indra Kumar and produced by combination of T-Series Films,Panorama Studios,Devgn Films,Maruti International and Anand Pandit Motion Pictures… this one follows same treasure hunt format with signature Dhamaal chaos that audiences have come to expect from series.
And that is exactly where reviews are getting divided. Critics saying film is just recycling same formula again and again . But clearly large chunk of audience does not care about that and just wants to sit in theater and laugh for two hours with familiar faces.
Honestly,there is something both impressive and slightly strange about franchise like this . No one is calling it great cinema,reviews are mixed,plot criticism is real… and yet people are still going.
Whether Day 7 onwards can maintain even reasonable numbers or whether it follows typical sharp weekday drop pattern,that whole question is still completely open right now
