The remnants of Cyclone Arnab are expected to continue affecting weather conditions across India as it weakens after making landfall in Andhra Pradesh on October 28. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted heavy to very heavy rainfall for several states, including thunderstorms and possible hailstorms, particularly impacting the Delhi-NCR region. This weather phenomenon is anticipated to disrupt normalcy across various areas, especially in eastern and central India.
On October 29, the IMD predicts isolated heavy rainfall in states such as Bihar, Chhattisgarh, east Madhya Pradesh, east Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, and Odisha. Additionally, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, coastal Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, and Sikkim are also on alert for heavy rain. The forecast indicates a high likelihood of thunderstorms and hailstorms, particularly in Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Punjab.
- Thunderstorm warnings — IMD alerts for Delhi-NCR and nearby regions.
- Heavy rainfall expected — Isolated downpours forecasted in six states.
- Cyclone landfall details — Arnab crossed Andhra coast, weakening as it moves inland.
The IMD has also warned of potential thundersqualls with wind speeds reaching 50-60 kmph in regions such as Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Punjab, and Jharkhand. Furthermore, east Rajasthan may experience isolated hailstorm activity, while thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are predicted for parts of Uttar Pradesh and other affected states.
As the cyclone's remnants continue to influence weather patterns, the IMD has indicated that unsettled conditions are likely to persist across the northern plains. The ongoing northeast monsoon season is contributing to these atmospheric disturbances, which are expected to result in widespread rainfall over the coming days. The situation remains dynamic, with authorities urging residents to stay informed about weather updates and take necessary precautions.
