Maharashtra experienced a profound wave of emotion and faith as millions of devotees said goodbye to Lord Ganesha on Anant Chaturdashi, marking the end of the ten-day Ganeshotsav. The atmosphere was electric, with rhythmic dhol-tasha beats, vibrant gulal, and fervent chants of "Ganpati Bappa Morya" resonating across the state. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde were present at Girgaon Chowpatty to oversee the immersion festivities, highlighting the event's significance and the smooth execution of arrangements by local authorities.
During a media interaction, CM Fadnavis commended the efforts of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and the Mumbai Police, who worked tirelessly to ensure the processions proceeded smoothly. He remarked on the disciplined atmosphere in both Mumbai and Pune, subtly addressing political critics by saying, "I pray to Bappa to bestow good sense upon the opposition and immerse all negativity and ill intent."
- Iconic idols immersed — Major idols like Lalbaugcha Raja and five Manache Ganpati were part of the grand processions.
- Cultural heritage displayed — Traditional dhol-tasha performances maintained high spirits despite regulatory restrictions.
- Safety measures in place — Emergency response units ensured a safe environment during the festivities.
The immersion of the revered Lalbaugcha Raja, known for fulfilling devotees' wishes, drew crowds of hundreds of thousands, with many waiting for hours to witness the idol’s departure into the sea. This year marked the 93rd celebration of Lalbaugcha Raja, featuring a mandap designed around a Lord Shiva theme, further enhancing its spiritual allure.
In Pune, significant idols also completed their immersions, with tight supervision from civic authorities. The traditional celebrations continued with the iconic Shreemant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati procession, which attracted thousands of onlookers. Despite strict noise regulations, the festival's cultural richness was on full display, showcasing Maharashtra's deep-rooted traditions and community spirit.
