Company has doubled its Medium Density Fibreboard (MDF) manufacturing capacity at Badvel plant in Kadapa district,Andhra Pradesh, and that kind of jump does say something about where they want to grow next.
Capacity at plant has gone from 900 cubic metres to 1,900 cubic metres . That is more than just routine expansion, and Keshav Bhajanka, the Executive Director of Century Plyboards, said commercial dispatches from expanded facility have already commenced .
And this is where story becomes more local also, not just factory output and company growth . Project has generated employment for approximately 2,200 individuals, which is obviously big for area around Badvel .
Few things standing out clearly here:
- Century Plyboards has doubled MDF capacity from 900 cubic metres to 1,900 cubic metres .
- Project has generated employment for approximately 2,200 individuals.
- Around 1,000 farmers have been encouraged to plant trees on 5,000 acres, with saplings provided at subsidised prices.
At same time, company is also sourcing raw materials directly from farmers in Badvel region . On paper, this sounds like useful arrangement because farmers get direct link and company gets more steady raw material supply.
They are also planning to promote plantation of plywood-grade trees across 80,000 acres over next eight years . That part is interesting because it connects factory expansion with farming side, though actual long-term impact will depend on how farmers benefit from it in real life only.
Keshav Bhajanka, who also serves as vice-president of the Indian Chamber of Commerce, said this capacity increase strengthens Century Plyboards’ connection with Andhra Pradesh . He also appreciated efforts of Nara Lokesh, the IT and HRD Minister,in attracting investments to state.
Bhajanka mentioned Lokesh's proactive outreach to potential investors in Kolkata and support for companies interested in investing in Andhra Pradesh . And honestly, this is where politics, business and local employment all start mixing together .
But bigger question is still same . If this expansion brings steady jobs, fair farmer support and real local benefit, then it becomes more than just one company growing . If not,it stays another corporate announcement with big numbers and nice promises…
