The Andhra Pradesh government has made a significant move towards enhancing its maritime infrastructure by sanctioning over ₹544.3 crore for land acquisition necessary for the development of the Dugarajapatnam Green Field Port & Shipbuilding Cluster. This decision, announced on February 5, will facilitate the acquisition of more than 2,000 acres of land across the Tirupati and Nellore districts, marking a pivotal step in the state's plans to bolster its port and shipbuilding capabilities.
As per the government order, the land acquisition will cover approximately 2,171 acres, with 1,932 acres categorized as patta land and the remainder as government land. The identified locations include several villages in both districts, with significant portions in Pathetipalem, Vagarru, Valamedu, and Pamanji in Tirupati, and Kothapatnam and Puchalapalli in Nellore.
